Parent Engagement Curriculum

Practical Parent Education’s comprehensive core curriculum is research based and evidence informed.  It is grounded in the principles of family systems, lifespan development and long-term change.  Rather than a one-way-only approach, the curriculum provides parents with positive alternatives in parenting practices and encourages them to discover solutions that are most appropriate for their child and that are in harmony with their family values. The flexibility of the lessons also allows them to be tailored easily for all stages of parenting, diverse populations and varied settings.

The online curriculum includes lessons that are designed to encourage interactive learning and sharing among participants.  Each module comes complete with lesson plans, extender activities, handouts, resources and evaluation instruments.  The curriculum is structured in an open-ended format so that new modules and parenting trends can be added.

Other notable features of the curriculum:

All PPE curriculum content is based on two theories: the family systems theory and an understanding of the ages and stages of children.  The activities follow theories of adult learning with behavioral change and experiences. After Dr. Long writes the curriculum, trained PPE facilitators field test it and revisions are made if necessary.
